Messages and images are scanned locally by default on our server in the Netherlands — they are then not sent to OpenAI, Google or any other third party. If a server admin switches on the AI Moderator's cloud mode themselves, the message text goes to Google Gemini. When the bot catches a scam, we share at most an anonymised signature with the swarm (just the pattern, never your content) so other servers stay one step ahead.

Yes. All current features are free — no ads, no credit card. There is no premium tier today. SlakBot is a passion project — if you find it valuable, share it. That's all.
Only what's strictly needed to run the bot (server settings, channel IDs, configuration). The Anti-Scam scan runs locally on our server; your images are never sent to OpenAI or Google. The AI Moderator also runs locally by default; only if a server admin switches on cloud mode does the message text go to Google Gemini. Only anonymised scam signatures are shared via the swarm — never your content. Read the privacy policy for the details.
Check slakbot.nl/en/status for live uptime. Any outage is reported there directly. Got an urgent issue? Join the support server.
AutoMod works on text patterns. SlakBot's Anti-Scam also runs OCR on images — so screenshots of fake giveaways (MrBeast scams, fake Nitro), phishing screenshots and lookalike accounts get detected too. AutoMod can't see those.
Yes — every feature is a per-server toggle in the dashboard. Want only YouTube alerts and nothing else? Fine. Just Anti-Scam? Also fine.
Yes, the dashboard is fully responsive. You can set up SlakBot from your phone without any faff.
By default SlakBot only asks for what's needed for the features you actually use. Moderation needs "Manage Messages" and "Kick/Ban Members", for example. We never ask for Administrator — that's a red flag with any bot.

The bot and dashboard are available in Dutch and English out of the box. Other languages can be added for custom bots on request.

A mate of mine started a YouTube channel — SlechtGetekendeSlak — and I thought: maybe I can help him out with this. So I built a simple bot for his Discord server. More and more got added, and before I knew it I had a full-blown bot on my hands. These days I use it for my own projects and offer it free to anyone who'd find it useful. Hence the name: SlakBot ("slak" is Dutch for snail) 🐌.
