Questions others had too

Is SlakBot really 100% free?

Yes. All current features are free — no ads, no credit card. If optional premium extras are ever added, the core features will stay free. SlakBot is a passion project — if you find it valuable, share it. That's all.

Do you collect my server data?

Only what's strictly needed to run the bot (server settings, channel IDs, configuration). The Anti-Scam scan runs locally on our server; your messages and images are never sent to OpenAI or Google. Only anonymised scam signatures are shared via the swarm — never your content. Read the privacy policy for the details.

What if the bot goes offline?

Check slakbot.nl/en/status for live uptime. Any outage is reported there directly. Got an urgent issue? Join the support server.

How does Anti-Scam differ from Discord's AutoMod?

AutoMod works on text patterns. SlakBot's Anti-Scam also runs OCR on images — so screenshots of fake giveaways (MrBeast scams, fake Nitro), phishing screenshots and lookalike accounts get detected too. AutoMod can't see those.

Can I disable individual features?

Yes — every feature is a per-server toggle in the dashboard. Want only YouTube alerts and nothing else? Fine. Just Anti-Scam? Also fine.

Does the dashboard work on mobile?

Yes, the dashboard is fully responsive. You can set up SlakBot from your phone without any faff.

What permissions does SlakBot need?

By default SlakBot only asks for what's needed for the features you actually use. Moderation needs "Manage Messages" and "Kick/Ban Members", for example. We never ask for Administrator — that's a red flag with any bot.

Can I get my own version of SlakBot?

What languages does SlakBot support?

The bot and dashboard are available in Dutch and English out of the box. Other languages can be added for custom bots on request.

Who's behind SlakBot?

Just Luca — a Dutch developer. Direct contact via de support server, no support tickets at an anonymous helpdesk.

Why did you build SlakBot?

A mate of mine started a YouTube channel — SlechtGetekendeSlak — and I thought: maybe I can help him out with this. So I built a simple bot for his Discord server. More and more got added, and before I knew it I had a full-blown bot on my hands. These days I use it for my own projects and offer it free to anyone who'd find it useful. Hence the name: SlakBot ("slak" is Dutch for snail) 🐌.
