This chapter covers adding SlakBot to your server, logging in to the panel and setting up the basics: language, appearance, name and permissions. A few things are done in Discord itself with /setup, /help and /botname. Everything else is set up at panel.slakbot.nl.
SlakBot connects your Twitch channel to your Discord server. It can join your Twitch chat as a chatbot, give your subs a Discord role automatically, announce when you go live, post new clips, keep a goal bar up to date and keep your stream statistics. You set everything up under the Twitch & Stream group in the panel. Link your Twitch channel first: many parts need it.
With the OBS overlays, SlakBot puts your Twitch alerts, counters with a goal bar, your Twitch chat, a giveaway wheel and your Spotify track on your stream. You set everything up on the OBS overlays page of the panel. Then you add each overlay to OBS as a browser source. Note: this page is still in closed beta. If you see a lock, you can request access. The Twitch alerts, the chat overlay and the giveaway wheel run through the SlakBot Twitch Chat-bot. That is also still in closed beta and has to be connected.
In the Socials & alerts group you set SlakBot to post a message in Discord when you upload a new YouTube video or TikTok, or when you go live on YouTube, TikTok or Kick. Twitch has its own group, Twitch & Stream. SlakBot checks these platforms on a schedule: YouTube every 3 minutes, TikTok videos every 4 minutes, TikTok LIVE and Kick every minute, and subscriber milestones every hour. So there is always some time between your upload or stream and the alert. Some fields have a different name in the old panel. That name is shown in brackets.
In the Moderation & safety (Discord) group of the panel you choose how SlakBot keeps your Discord server safe. It has filters, protection against scams and raids, an AI Moderator, a captcha for new members, and overviews of warnings and punishments. Almost everything is off by default and you switch it on yourself. The SlakBot ban list is on by default. The exception is Warn Actions: if you use /warn, SlakBot by default mutes someone after 3 warnings and bans them after 5. Two things apply everywhere. The filters, Anti-Scam and the AI Moderator skip members with the Manage Messages permission, so always test with a normal account. And SlakBot can only punish someone if its own role is higher than that member's highest role.
The Community & members group holds everything your members do together: joining, chatting and levelling up, saving coins, counting, celebrating birthdays and picking their own roles. Almost everything is off by default, so you switch on only the parts you want to use. Many parts hand out roles. That only works if SlakBot has the 'Manage Roles' permission and the SlakBot role sits higher under Server Settings → Roles than the roles it has to give. In the pickers where you choose a role for SlakBot to give, roles it can't give are listed separately and greyed out.
In the Bot & content panel group you control what the bot itself says and does: posting or scheduling messages, your own commands, automatic replies to words, counter channels, linking a game server, importing levels from another bot, and a ticket system. None of these parts does anything until you set it up.
SlakBot stores what its features need and does not sell data. This section explains what is stored and for how long. It also covers what you and your viewers can delete yourselves, how to have the rest removed and where to go with questions. The full text is in the privacy policy at slakbot.nl/en/privacy.
