The SlakBot ban list
A small list of accounts that did raids, spam, hate or ban evasion. Here you can read how it works, and what you can do if you think it's wrong.
Did you get a message saying you're on the list?
Think it's wrong? Then you can appeal. Below you can read how that works and what to include.
Go to appealsWhat is the ban list?
SlakBot keeps a small list of accounts that did raids, spam, hate or ban evasion elsewhere. If an account is on the list, SlakBot bans it in every server that takes part. That only happens if the account is a member there or joins.
Every account on the list has one fixed category:
- Raid: flooding a server or chat with many accounts at once.
- Spam or scam: advertising, fake links or fraud.
- Hate or harassment: insulting, threatening or repeatedly bothering people.
- Ban evasion: coming back with another account after a ban.
Who keeps the list?
Only the maker of SlakBot decides who goes on it, by hand. No computer or AI puts people on the list. Servers can't put anyone on the list themselves.
What is on the list?
- The account's Discord ID and/or Twitch ID (a number)
- The category (one of the four above)
- The date
- Who decided (one of the two accounts of the maker of SlakBot)
There is no name on it, no explanation in free text and no messages. On top of that, SlakBot remembers per server what it did (for example: banned, or not banned because someone is staff) and whether its message to you arrived.
What happens if you're on it?
- SlakBot bans you in servers that take part and where you are a member or join. Nothing happens in other servers.
- You get a private message from SlakBot once, with the number, the category and a link to this page. If your DMs are closed, you won't get that message.
- In a server where you get banned, the admins only see that one ban, with the number and the category. They don't see the rest of the list.
For servers: on or off
The ban list is on by default and works right away in every server with SlakBot. The first time SlakBot bans someone from the list in a server, the owner gets one message about it: as a DM, or in the mod log channel if the owner's DMs are closed. A server where the list bans no one gets no message. If the owner's DMs are closed and there is no mod log channel, SlakBot can't deliver that message anywhere; the list still works.
Don't want it? You can turn it off at any time. Bans the list already made will stay; you can lift them yourself.
- with the Turn off for this server button in that message;
- with
/slakbot-banlijst offin your server (you need the Manage Server permission); - in the dashboard, if your server has the new panel (Moderation page).
With /slakbot-banlijst status you can see whether the list works in your server.
Never banned: the server owner, staff (anyone with moderation or management permissions, or with the mod role from the SlakBot panel) and bots. If the server lifts a ban from the list itself, SlakBot won't ban that person there again. Every ban goes to the server's mod log channel, if it has one.
Twitch. The list can also contain a Twitch account. Banning on Twitch is still off for now.
How long?
- You stay on the list for 12 months at most. After that you come off it automatically.
- When you come off the list (after 12 months or sooner), SlakBot lifts the bans it gave itself. A ban that a server gave itself stays: that is up to that server.
- 30 days after you come off the list, SlakBot deletes the data completely.
Think it's wrong? Appeal
Think you're on the list by mistake? Send an email to privacy@slakbot.nl, or
use the form at slakbot.nl/en/contact. Include:
- your Discord ID or your Twitch name;
- the number: it is in the private message from SlakBot, and in the ban reason after
SlakBot-banlijst #; - briefly why you think it's wrong.
To find your Discord ID: in Discord, go to Settings → Advanced and turn on Developer Mode. Then right-click your own name and choose Copy User ID.
You'll get an answer within 30 days. If your appeal is right, we take you off the list and SlakBot lifts its own bans. You can also ask which data we have about you.
Child safety or something illegal? Report it to the platform
Child safety and illegal things don't belong on this list. Report them to Discord or Twitch directly: they can do much more about it than a bot.
- Discord: dis.gd/report
- Twitch: how to file a report with Twitch
Is someone in immediate danger? Call your local emergency number (112 in the EU).
