YouTube alerts setup
Link channel, customize embed, ping @YouTube-fans. 5 minutes.
What this does
On every new video upload to the linked YouTube channel, SlakBot posts a pretty embed in a Discord channel of your choice. Polling interval is ~60 seconds — usually online within 1-2 minutes of publication.
Example output
1Open the dashboard
Log into panel.slakbot.nl/dashboard with Discord. Pick your server.
2Navigate to YouTube alerts
In the sidebar: Notifications → YouTube. Click + Add channel.
3Enter your channel URL
Paste the full URL of your YouTube channel:

Or the older formats:
https://youtube.com/channel/UCxxxxxxhttps://youtube.com/c/YourChannel
⚠️ Currently: one YouTube channel per Discord server. Multi-channel support is in development — DM @luca_046 if you need it.
4Pick channel & role
Select:
- Target channel — where the alert lands (e.g.
#yt-uploads) - Ping role (optional) — e.g.
@YouTube-fans. Members opt-in via/notifycommand.
5Customize the embed
Click Edit embed. You can change:
- Colour — defaults to YouTube red, any hex works
- Thumbnail — auto from video, or fixed logo
- Title prefix — e.g. "🎉 New video from LucaTV!"
- Description — extra text below the title
⚠️ Keep it short: embeds > 2000 chars get truncated by Discord.
6Test
Click Test alert in the dashboard. A dummy embed sends to your target channel. See instantly what it looks like.

Troubleshooting
Alert doesn't arrive
- Check the bot has Send Messages + Embed Links permission in the target channel
- YouTube video must be public — private/unlisted don't trigger
- Polling interval is 60s — the very first minute after upload may take 30s extra
Wrong @ ping
- Check the ping role still exists in the server
- For
@everyone: bot needs "Mention Everyone" permission
