Community and members

The Community & members group holds everything your members do together: joining, chatting and levelling up, saving coins, counting, celebrating birthdays and picking their own roles. Almost everything is off by default, so you switch on only the parts you want to use. Many parts hand out roles. That only works if SlakBot has the 'Manage Roles' permission and the SlakBot role sits higher under Server Settings → Roles than the roles it has to give. In the pickers where you choose a role for SlakBot to give, roles it can't give are listed separately and greyed out.

Welcome and goodbye

Where to find it: Panel → Community & members → Welcome

SlakBot welcomes new members with a message in a channel you choose and can give them a role right away (Auto-role). You can also have a separate goodbye message sent when someone leaves the server. Under Appearance you choose whether the message appears as a card, an embed or plain text. Bots get no welcome and no auto-role.

Steps

  1. Open Welcome and turn on 'Welcome message enabled'.
  2. Pick a 'Welcome channel' and optionally write your own 'Welcome message'. If you leave it empty, SlakBot sends a default greeting.
  3. Optionally pick an 'Auto-role' and click '💾 Save'.
  4. Click '📤 Test message'. SlakBot then posts a sample in your welcome channel, so your members see it too.
  5. Want a goodbye message too? Turn on 'Goodbye message enabled', pick a 'Goodbye channel' and click '💾 Save' in that card.
Note
  • Variables: {user} (mentions the new member), {username} (their name), {server} (the server name) and {memberCount} (the number of members). In the goodbye message, {user} is just the name, without a mention.
  • The welcome message is on by default, but SlakBot sends nothing until you pick a channel. The goodbye message is off by default.
  • For the auto-role, SlakBot needs 'Manage Roles', and the SlakBot role must be above the chosen role.
  • If the Captcha gate is on, SlakBot doesn't give the auto-role. After solving the captcha, the member only gets the 'Verified role' you picked on the Captcha gate.

Accept rules

Where to find it: Panel → Community & members → Accept rules

SlakBot posts a message with your rules and a button. Whoever clicks the button gets the access role and a confirmation only they can see. That way nobody gets further into the server without agreeing, as long as your other channels are closed to members without that role.

Steps

  1. Open Accept rules and turn on 'Onboarding enabled'.
  2. Pick the 'Rules channel' and the 'Access role (after accepting)'.
  3. Fill in 'Title', 'Rules / text' and 'Button text', and optionally 'Confirmation after accepting (private)'.
  4. Click '📤 Post / update'. SlakBot saves your settings and posts the message with the button in Discord. If you click again later, it updates the same message, as long as you keep the same channel.
  5. In Discord, close off your other channels: give @everyone few permissions and give the access role access to the rest of the server.
Note
  • Off by default. If you turn 'Onboarding enabled' off while the message is already in Discord, anyone who clicks the button is told it hasn't been set up yet.
  • Clicking only '💾 Save' doesn't put anything in Discord yet. To do that, click '📤 Post / update'.
  • SlakBot needs 'Manage Roles', and the SlakBot role must be above the access role. Otherwise the panel refuses to post the message.
  • SlakBot doesn't close off your channels for you. You set that yourself in the channel permissions.

Leveling

Where to find it: Panel → Community & members → Leveling

Members earn XP by chatting: 15 XP per message, at most once a minute per member. Every time someone reaches a new level, SlakBot posts a congratulation. For each level you can set a role reward and your own message. Members see their level with /rank and the leaderboard with /top.

Steps

  1. Open Leveling and turn on 'Leveling enabled'.
  2. Optionally pick a 'Level-up channel'. If you leave it empty, the congratulation appears in the channel where the member was chatting. Click '💾 Save'.
  3. Under '➕ Level configuration', enter a 'Level' (1 to 500), pick a 'Role reward' and optionally write a 'Custom level-up message (optional)'.
  4. Click '➕ Add / Update'. Repeat this for every level with a reward.
  5. Want members to keep only their highest level role? Turn on 'Remove previous level role on promotion' and click '💾 Save'.
Note
  • Off by default. If you haven't set up any levels, members still earn XP but get no role.
  • Variables in your own message: {user} {username} {tag} {level} {xp} {server}.
  • XP only counts in regular text channels. Threads, forum posts, announcement channels and voice channel chats don't count.
  • For role rewards, SlakBot needs 'Manage Roles', and the SlakBot role must be above those roles.
  • You can give or wipe XP with /xp-give and /xp-reset. By default, these commands are limited to members with 'Manage Server'.

Commands

/rank [user] Shows your own level and XP, or another member's.
/top [page] The server's XP leaderboard, 10 per page.
/xp-give user xp Gives a member extra XP (admins).
/xp-reset user Resets a member's XP to 0 (admins).

Economy

Where to find it: Panel → Community & members → Economy

Members save up your server's currency (by default 'coins' with 🪙) and spend it in your shop, for example on a role. With /daily they collect a reward once every 24 hours. Claiming again within 48 hours builds a streak: 10% extra per day, up to 40% extra. With /gamble (coinflip, slots or roulette) and /blackjack, members bet coins on a game of chance against the bot. Coins have no monetary value and can't be exchanged for money.

Steps

  1. Open Economy and turn on 'Economy enabled'.
  2. Set 'Daily reward' (100 by default), 'Currency name' and 'Currency emoji', then click '💾 Save'.
  3. Under '➕ Add / update shop item', enter a 'Name' and a 'Price'. Under 'Type', choose 'Role' (and pick the role) or 'Other (just spends coins)'.
  4. Click '➕ Add / Update'. If the name already exists, that item is updated and no second one is added.
  5. Optional: under '♻️ Reset coins & season', choose an 'Automatic reset' option (weekly, monthly or quarterly) and click '💾 Save' in that card.
Note
  • Off by default. When the economy is off, every coin command says so.
  • You can't switch off /gamble and /blackjack separately in the SlakBot panel. They only go off when you turn off the whole economy. In Discord itself you can choose per command who may use it, under Server Settings → Integrations → SlakBot.
  • SlakBot can only give a shop role with 'Manage Roles' and if the SlakBot role is above that role. SlakBot checks this before taking payment. If giving the role still fails afterwards, the member gets their coins back. Members who already have the role can't buy it again.
  • 'Reset all coins now' sets everyone's balance in the server to 0. No copy of the old balances is kept.
  • As an admin you can give or take coins with /coins-give. By default, that command is limited to members with 'Manage Server'.

Commands

/daily Collects the daily reward (once every 24 hours).
/balance [user] Shows your balance, streak and rank, or another member's.
/shop view and /shop buy id Shows the shop, or buys an item by its number.
/leaderboard-coins The 10 members with the most coins.
/gamble coinflip, slots or roulette, with bet Game of chance with coins: coinflip, slots or roulette.
/blackjack bet Blackjack against the bot with coins.
/coins-give user amount Gives coins to a member, or takes them with a negative amount (admins).

Leaderboards

Where to find it: Panel → Community & members → Leaderboards

Here you see your server's top 20 by XP and top 15 by coins. There's nothing to set up here. Members see similar leaderboards in Discord with /top and /leaderboard-coins.

Steps

  1. Open Leaderboards.
  2. View the '⭐ XP leaderboard' and the '🏆 Economy leaderboard'.
  3. Click '🔄 Refresh' for the latest standings.
Note
  • New XP is only added while Leveling is on, and new coins only while Economy is on. /top and /leaderboard-coins also only work while that part is on.
  • The panel also lists members who have already left the server. /top only shows members who are still in the server.

Commands

/top [page] XP leaderboard in Discord.
/leaderboard-coins Coins leaderboard in Discord.

Counting

Where to find it: Panel → Community & members → Counting

A counting game where members take turns counting 1, 2, 3 and so on in one channel. SlakBot puts ✅ under each correct number, ❌ under a wrong number and 🚫 when someone counts twice in a row. A simple sum like 2+3 counts too. Anyone who's just too late with a number that was already counted gets 🕐, and the count stays where it is.

Steps

  1. Open Counting, turn on 'Counting enabled' and pick a 'Counting channel'.
  2. Choose the rules: 'Reset on mistake', 'Same user may count twice in a row' and 'Strict: numbers only'.
  3. Click '💾 Save'.
  4. Did something go wrong? Under '📊 Status', enter a number under 'Set count manually' and click '✔️ Set count'. Or click '🔄 Reset to 0'.
Note
  • Off by default. With the default settings, a mistake sends the count back to 0 and nobody may count twice in a row.
  • SlakBot needs 'Add Reactions' in the counting channel. With Strict on, it also needs 'Manage Messages'.
  • '🌐 Public scoreboard (website)' is off by default. If you turn it on, your server name and the names of your best counters become public.
  • If someone counts wrong more than 5 times within 6 seconds, SlakBot removes the message and gives that person a 5-minute timeout (if SlakBot is allowed to).

Commands

/counting Shows the current count, the record and the top counters.

Birthdays

Where to find it: Panel → Community & members → Birthdays

Members set their own birthday with /birthday. On their birthday, SlakBot congratulates them in a channel you choose, from the hour and in the timezone you set. You can also give the birthday member a temporary role and a coins gift.

Steps

  1. Open Birthdays, turn on 'Birthdays on' and pick an 'Announcement channel'.
  2. Optionally change the 'Message' (empty means the default text) and choose whether to 'Ping the birthday person'.
  3. Under '🎁 Reward & timing', optionally pick a 'Temporary birthday role (optional)', the 'Role duration (hours)' and a 'Coins gift'.
  4. Set the 'Time to congratulate' and the 'Timezone' (09:00 and Europe/Amsterdam by default) and click '💾 Save'.
  5. Tell your members to fill in their date with /birthday set.
Note
  • Off by default. Without an announcement channel nothing happens: no message, no role and no coins.
  • Variables: {user} and {username} both become the birthday member's name, {server} the server name. If 'Ping the birthday person' is on, SlakBot puts the mention above the message. It only goes to the birthday member, never to @everyone.
  • The birth year is optional and SlakBot never shows it publicly.
  • SlakBot won't give a birthday role that has admin or moderation permissions. Each member gets the coins gift at most once a year.
  • If someone enters a date that has already passed this year or is today, the congratulation only comes next year.

Commands

/birthday set day month [year] Saves your birthday in this server.
/birthday view Shows the date you saved.
/birthday remove Removes your birthday from this server.

Wrapped

Where to find it: Panel → Community & members → Wrapped

/wrapped creates a shareable card with your server's numbers: members, messages, XP earned, scams blocked, the top member and the highest count (if you use counting). Anyone in the server can create the card. In the panel you can also turn on a public share page that shows a preview when someone pastes the link.

Steps

  1. Type /wrapped in a channel. SlakBot posts the card.
  2. For a share page, open Wrapped and turn on 'Public share page'.
  3. Copy the 'Public link' with '📋 Copy' and share it.
  4. Turn the switch off to take the page offline. If you turn it back on later, the same link works again.
Note
  • The share page is off by default. When it's on, anyone with the link can see your server statistics, including your top member's name.
  • Messages, XP and the top member come from Leveling. If Leveling is off, those numbers stay empty or 0. For messages, SlakBot only counts messages that earned XP, so the number is lower than the real total.
  • The labels on the card are currently always in Dutch, even if your server is set to English.

Commands

/wrapped Creates your server's Wrapped card.

Voice Channels (Join-to-Create)

Where to find it: Panel → Community & members → Voice Channels

A member who joins a hub voice channel instantly gets their own temporary voice channel and is moved into it. The channel disappears as soon as it's empty. The owner manages it with buttons in its chat: Lock, Rename, Limit and Claim.

Steps

  1. In Discord, create a voice channel to act as the entrance, for example '➕ Create channel'.
  2. Open Voice Channels, turn on 'Enabled', fill in 'Max. temporary channels at once' and click '💾 Save'.
  3. Under '➕ Hub channels', pick the 'Hub voice channel', the 'Category for new channels', the 'Name template' and the 'Default limit (0=∞)'.
  4. Click '➕ Add hub'.
Note
  • Off by default. By default there can be at most 20 temporary channels at once. Turning it on without a hub does nothing.
  • SlakBot needs 'Move Members', plus 'Manage Channels' in the chosen category. Without those permissions the panel won't save the hub.
  • {user} in the name template becomes the member's name. If a member renames their channel or sets a limit, they get that again next time.
  • Claim only works if the owner has left the channel and you're in it yourself.

Role Menus and /reactionrole

Where to find it: Panel → Community & members → Role Menus (or /reactionrole in Discord)

A role menu is a message with buttons that members use to pick their own roles. One click gives the role, and another click takes it away again. You create a role menu in the panel (up to 25 buttons per menu) or with /reactionrole in Discord.

Steps

  1. Open Role Menus and fill in a 'Title', a 'Description' and the 'Channel to post in' under '➕ New role menu'.
  2. For each button, click '➕ Add role' and choose the role, the button text, an emoji and a color.
  3. Click '💾 Save'.
  4. Under '📋 My role menus', click 📤 (Post/update) to put the menu in Discord.
  5. Changing something later? First click '💾 Save', then click 📤 again. SlakBot then updates the existing message.
Note
  • SlakBot needs 'Manage Roles', and the SlakBot role must be above every role in the menu. Otherwise the panel won't save the menu.
  • A role menu never gives a role with admin or moderation permissions, such as Administrator, Manage Messages or Ban Members.
  • If you delete a role menu in the panel, its message stays in Discord. You remove that yourself.
  • /reactionrole create posts the message in the channel where you type the command, with at most 20 roles at once. /reactionrole add only works on a message from SlakBot, and you type it in the same channel as that message. By default, the command is limited to members with 'Manage Roles'.

Commands

/reactionrole create title description roles [color] Creates a message with role buttons. Write the roles as emoji:@role, separated by commas, for example 🎮:@Gamer, 🎵:@Music.
/reactionrole add messageid emoji role Adds a role button to an existing SlakBot message.
/reactionrole remove messageid Removes all role buttons from a message.
/reactionrole list Lists all role-button messages in this server.

Invites

Where to find it: Panel → Community & members → Invites

SlakBot keeps track of whose invite new members used to join. In the panel you see a leaderboard (top 50) with each person's invite count and the latest members they invited. In Discord, anyone can check their own count, or another member's, with /invites.

Steps

  1. Give SlakBot the 'Manage Server' permission. Without it, SlakBot can't read the invites.
  2. Open Invites to see the leaderboard.
Note
  • There's no on/off switch. SlakBot keeps track automatically once it has the permission.
  • The count doesn't go down when an invited member leaves again. Bots don't count.
  • Members who join through the server's own custom link (vanity URL) aren't credited to anyone.

Commands

/invites [member] Shows how many members someone invited, and the last five.

Polls

Where to find it: Panel → Community & members → Polls (create a poll with /poll in Discord)

With /poll you post a vote with 2 to 6 options in a channel. Members vote with buttons and get one vote each. Clicking a different button changes their vote. Clicking the same button again withdraws it. Bars show each option's percentage live, and in the panel you only choose how that looks.

Steps

  1. Open Polls, pick a 'Bar color' and turn 'Highlight leader' on or off.
  2. Click '💾 Save'.
  3. In Discord, type /poll with a question and at least two options. Optionally fill in 'minutes' so the poll closes by itself.
  4. Want to close a poll yourself? Use /poll-close in the same channel.
Note
  • /poll and /poll-close are limited to members with 'Manage Messages' by default.
  • A poll can close by itself after 1 minute up to 7 days (10080 minutes). When it closes, the winner gets a 👑.
  • /poll-close without a message ID closes the latest open poll in that channel.

Commands

/poll question option1 option2 [option3 to option6] [minutes] Posts a poll with buttons in the channel.
/poll-close [message-id] Closes a poll and shows the result.

Events, tournaments and LFG

Where to find it: No panel page, Discord commands only

With /event you plan an activity with the buttons Coming, Maybe and Can't make it. Anyone who clicks Coming gets a reminder 1 hour and 15 minutes beforehand, in the event's channel. With /tournament you run a knockout tournament for 2 to 64 players. With /lfg, members look for teammates, and the poster gets a private message when someone clicks 'I'm in!'.

Steps

  1. Event: type /event create with a name, a date (for example 2026-10-12 20:00) and optionally a description.
  2. Tournament: type /tournament create with a name, a game and optionally the maximum number of players. Members click ⚔️ Join.
  3. Start the tournament with /tournament start and report the winner of each match with /tournament score. When a round is done, SlakBot sets up the next round by itself.
  4. LFG: type /lfg post with the game and optionally the platform, a description and the number of players.
Note
  • Anyone in the server can create events, tournaments and LFG posts. The creator or someone with 'Manage Server' can delete an event. Only 'Manage Server' can start a tournament and enter results.
  • After creating an event, check the time in its message. Discord shows it in each person's own timezone. If it's wrong, delete the event with /event delete and create it again.
  • LFG posts expire after about 2 hours. The poster only gets the notification if they allow private messages from server members.

Commands

/event create name date [description] Posts an event with sign-up buttons.
/event list and /event delete id Lists events or deletes one.
/tournament create name game [max] Creates a tournament with a Join button.
/tournament join, list, start and score (id, winner) Join, list, start and report a result.
/lfg post game [platform] [description] [players] Posts a call to play together.
/lfg list and /lfg close id Lists open posts or closes your own.
